This is an overview of what you should know if you are considering joining FTP. You really need to read this entire section and have a solid understanding of what is explained here before you make your decision.
The background of Free Team Players.
FTP was founded to provide a gaming community for the players who:
- Do not really wish to commit to the raw hours (or money) it takes to be part of a clan. - Have grown tired of the endless string of "every player is a Rambo onto himself" games; that seem to be all that is available when one is not in a clan. - Do not become blind-rage angry when their team loses a map. - Likes to play the game and realizes it is after all, just a game. - Have noticed that if everyone will focus on the mission, even a team of very average players can overcome a group of very good loners.
The Philosophy of Free Team Players.
We are about fun, team work, and good sportsmanship.
Fun:
It's a game, people. We play it to have a good time.
Teamwork:
FTP is about working together to complete the mission(s) of the map. It is not about your Splatter Ladder rating or your kill to death ratio. No matter how many times you die, if your team wins the map, that is victory.
Good sportsmanship :
A well balanced and challenging game is more fun for everyone. Playing well with others and helping to keep the game fun for all is the hallmark of good sportsmanship. Remember, when you wear an FTP tag, you represent the entire tribe. (but we are all human, and everyone can have a bad day.)
What you can expect from FTP:
First of all, we are not a clan, but more of a tribe. FTP is about enjoying the game when you have time, and want to play. We do not require you to have Team Speak, Ventrillo, X-fire or any other extraneous programs. All you need is ET installed.
FTP is not in any league ladders and participates in friendly scrims only. We are not a group of hard-core fraggers. So if you are looking to join a 1337 organization of deadly, trick jumping or head shot masters, FTP really isn't what you are looking for.
There are no "try-outs" to see if you are a good shot. No required practice sessions, no minimum participation expectations, and no dues of any kind.
We welcome everyone from the most lethal shooter to the greenest player that is still learning the basics.
What FTP will expect from you:
FTP communicates in English on the web site and on the game server. (except for private messages of course) This is not because English is any better than any other language but simply because English is a language shared by the majority of our members. Please do not think you need to be a master of English. as long as you can read this, you are fine.
No intentionally abusive player names or posts. Although we are pretty unrestricted in the language, images, humour, and mood of this site and on our server, we cannot have our members harassing each other. So enjoy yourself but please be considerate of other people's feelings.
FTP does not allow any cheats. This includes questionable cvar manipulations, or hack scripts such as rapid fire, aimbots, walhacks etc. Anything that creates an unfair advantage is forbidden. If you feel you must cheat, FTP does not want you as a member. There are many clans and servers that welcome such things. We are not among them.
All aspiring members participate in a trial period. Do not confuse this with a try-out. No one will be assessing your skill level, or knowledge of the game. This is just a chance for the tribe to get to know you, and for you to get a good feel for what FTP is all about. This period will lasts about 28 days (give or take a week or so) We like to induct as many members at once as possible, so the duration of the probationary period may not be exactly 28 days.
At the end of the trial period (or any time in the interim) either party (FTP or the probationary player) are free to terminate the trial and go their separate ways with no hard feelings.
Legal Stuff:
If you are a United States resident, you must be at least 18 years of age to be a member or FTP or play on our server. We do not want to deal with angry parents or risk warping the delicate and politically correct minds of the American youth.
Ok, you have read all that stuff and can now decide for yourself if FTP is right for you.
Joining: Should you decide you want to join our tribe:
1) Create an account using the name you intend to use while playing under your FTP profile. 2) Read the Site Rules and the Server Rules. 3) Post your intent to join in the "Joining" thread. You will be contacted by our Recruiting Staff via private message on this web site.
4) Follow their instructions. They are here to help insure your induction into the tribe is smooth.
Some of the things that the members will be looking at during your probationary period:
Are you willing to work with others in a team effort.
Are you willing to learn from others, and help develop teamwork.
Do you share your expertise in a way that is not belittling to others.
Do you try to choose a player class that is best for the team overall, or do you just play the class you like best constantly.
When joining the game, do you try to join the side that will best maintain balance in the game.
When the teams are unbalanced and admin asks you to change sides; do you help out and swap, or do you complain or become difficult.
Do you have a solid understanding of what FTP is about and the tribe policy.
The Tag:
Once you have requested to join, you will be required to play with tribe tags.
The probationary tag looks like this (FTP)* in default green - ^2(FTP)* . This will help the tribe easily identify you when playing.
After your probationary period is complete, the tag will look like this (FTP) and you are welcome to choose any colours you like except gold (orange) and blue. Gold is reserved for members the tribe chooses to award a gold tag to, and blue is for staff members.
There are no restrictions on the colour(s) used in your player name. Feel free to be creative and come up with something you like.
